First post: Why a Blog?

(Where's a bird or plane when ya need one?)

First things first. Hi. If we haven't met before, my name is Icy and I'm a photographer, a creative, foodie, and Netflix aficionado based in Boston.

Now that you know all the important details about me, you should know I tend to spend my days walking around with a camera looking up quite a bit. Sometimes, I'll just suddenly stop with my chin up to see if anything interesting catches my eye, confusing strangers and toddlers alike. However strange this may be, it did produce one of my favorite photos as seen above. Much like this photo, I recently noticed an open space between my picture taking and sharing them on social media. I've found that as much I like open space in my photos, I wanted to close that gap in how I connect with others. This bring us to here, my blog.

In this space, I want to express my thoughts on how, what, and why I photograph certain things. This may come in the form of reviews, my process, or how I think. What I hope to do is connect and fill the void between my photography and you, the viewer.

Stepping back a bit, I'd like to talk how the Boston photo community has really bridged the gap between me and other Instagram photographers. These are the creators, the curators, and the people who have a common love for preserving moments. IGBoston (@igboston) was the first community that I joined in April 2016 and they were a fantastic introductory community group and contributed to my motivation to go on photo walks. The members are friendly and supportive while the curators are always thinking of new initiatives to spark creativity, but also foster closeness (all the feels, guys!). The second community I joined was the Portrait Meet (@portraitmeet) community. This community allowed me to connect with other portrait enthusiasts who I have had the pleasure of meeting and the opportunity to look up to. :') (Don't you love it when things come full circle?)
